We’ve moved the hosting of our Photo Collage Screensaver to CodePlex. All download links should now point to the projects CodePlex page. We will be releasing the source code for the project on CodePlex within the next few months.

Photo Collage Screensaver v1.2 (.zip)

Photo Collage Screensaver takes pictures from your computer and turns them into a beautiful collage screensaver. File types supported include: JPG, JPEG, and PNG.

Changes in version 1.2:

Added configuration setting for randomization of photos (see below).
Added setting for verbose logging.
Began adding code to take advantage of multiple core processors (parallel programming).

Unfortunately, v1.2 does not have an installer so here are the installation instructions:

For Windows 7 32-bit, place the .scr file in the “C:\Windows\System32″ directory
For Windows 7 64-bit, place the .scr file in the “C:\Windows\SysWOW64″ directory.

Once installed, you can configure the screensaver in Control Panel -> Personalization -> Screen Saver. Below is a screenshot of the window that is displayed when you click “Settings…” in Screen Saver Settings. It allows you to configure the directory that your photos are located, the maximum number of photos to display at one time, and the speed in which new photos are shown.

Fixed scaling issue on images that are not 96 dpi.
Fixed video memory issue

Collage Dev Updates

There are 2 big changes in the next release that we’ve been working on.

1) Proper scaling of all images. The preview version only scaled 96 DPI images correctly. This change is complete and ready for release.

2) A bug which causes the occurrence of “Out of Memory” errors. We think the problem has been found and corrected. We will do extensive testing before releasing another version. We’ll release a new version as soon as we feel comfortable in saying the problem has been corrected. Hopefully, we can get a new copy out before the new year.

Code Library Project Hosting

We’ve created a project at http://codelibrary.codeplex.com which has given us access to hosted TFS and offsite hosting (storage, backup, etc!).

We’ll be slowly adding boilerplate code to the project. Anyone wishing to contribute, please feel free to contact us either here or through the discussions on the project site.
